- "Move it, lads! You're not dead yet!" shouted Sir Oisin from his command deck high above their heads. His face wore a look of seriousness; determined and firm as stone. "Get the supplies ashore and keep your wits about you." One of his delegates crossed names off of a list as they took their seats within the rowing boats, and Maeve simply tagged along with Cillian, thankfully without raising suspicion. It was one thing to slip through the ranks - but quite another to stay on board somehow when having been called to battle, even though that would have been a preferable option. All they could hope for was a stroke of good fortune to lift their fate out of its grim abyss.
- When they had loaded as much cargo as the vessel could possibly bear, the hefty weight threatening to capsize her completely, Sir Oisin finally gave the order for the rowers to set course for shore, which would allow the soldiers on board to disembark with some semblance of organization. The instructions were clear; carry the supplies inland for the duration of a mile until reaching a vantage point on the other side of the woods. "Lose our supplies now, and it will be the end of us," said their commander. "Resupplies won't arrive for a great many days."
- The journey to shore was rough under so much weight. But Maeve was not a woman to give up easily, and despite her slender arms straining from rowing so vigorously, she pushed the oars with all her might - forcing them deeper into the water to hasten their arrival. The soldiers paid her little attention, and whenever someone would attempt to talk to her - primarily to urge her to row faster - Cillian covered for her. He was convincing enough, somehow; or perhaps it was his deep voice and towering stature that caused the men not to question him.
